Après le mot : Autiste

Cover of the book Après le mot : Autiste by Lucas Lenoir

This book is neither a manual nor a resilience story to celebrate.
It is a crossing. The one that begins after a word: autistic.
Not to explain, but to feel.
Not to convince, but to make visible what cannot be seen.

I write about masking, intensity, doubt.
About the shame we learn to swallow in order to look normal.
And about the moment you understand that it is not you who needs fixing,
but the way you look at yourself.

Après le mot : autiste is an inner map,
made of ruptures, returns to oneself, and words we wish we had heard sooner.
It is a book for those who feel alone in a crowded room,
and for those who want to learn to look differently.

“It will not change the world.
But it might change a way of looking.
And sometimes, that is enough.”

I wrote this book from my own lived experience, without turning autism into a metaphor or a lesson. What interests me is what the word reveals once it is spoken: the ways we learn to keep quiet, to bend, to lose a little of ourselves in order to fit into other people's world.

And also what the word makes it possible to rebuild: a fairer relationship with oneself, with others, with work, with relationships. One where difference is no longer a flaw to correct, but information to understand.

If you are going through these questions too, or if you want to better understand those who are, this book is for you.
